Born South Shields, England on March the 28th 1902. Studied at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts). Came to film via
a distinguished stage career both in London's West End and occasionally Broadway in America. Has appeared in many films
where her strong character portrayals and distinctive looks make her presence unmistakable.
